The Acceptable Christian Sin of Gluttony #34

Daniel 10:2-3 says, “In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.”

Arthur Wallis said, “Fasting is calculated to bring a note of urgency and importunity into our praying, and to give force to our pleading in the court of heaven. The man who prays with fasting is giving heaven notice that he is truly in earnest… Not only so, but he is expressing his earnestness in a divinely-appointed way. He is using a means that God has chosen to make his voice to be heard on high.”

You can listen to over 150 podcasts that I did on fasting at Prayer Motivator Devotional.com. When you get there, click on the “Fasting Edition” link.

Throughout this time, I also encourage you to make regular exercise a part of your life. You don’t have to go to the gym every day or take a long time to do it. There are 5 minute exercise videos on YouTube that you can do in the comfort of your home which will help you burn fat, burn calories, and increase blood flow. Here are three that I do with my family:

– Bowflex – 5 minute full body stretch
– Bowflex – 5 minute cardio blast workout
– Bowflex – 6 minute standing ab workout

You can start with these 5 minute workouts and work your way up to longer ones such as:

– 1 Mile Happy Walk
– The Biggest Loser Power Walk #1, #2, #3, and #4
– Marching with Moves for Beginners
– Marching with Moves in Chicago
